Abstract

This study aims to reveal the relationship and reliability of metacognitive skills and disciplined, responsibilities, and conscientiousness attitudes towards cognitive learning outcomes. This correlational research was carried out by applying the Project Based Learning (PjBL) to 55 students of biology education study programs in the second semester of the 2015/2016 academic year. Measurement of students' metacognitive skills was obtained through the metacognitive skills rubric. Attitude measurement was done by using attitude tracking questionnaire. Measurement of students’ cognitive learning outcomes was obtained by essay test. Data analysis was performed using multiple regression analysis. The results showed a very strong relationship (p = 0,000) between metacognitive skills and disciplinary, responsibilities, and conscientiousness attitudes towards cognitive learning outcomes, with a regression equation Y = 19,652 + 1,218X1 - 0.63X2 - 0.145X3 + 0, 135X4. It was concluded that the simultaneous effective contribution of metacognitive skills and discipline, responsibility, and thoroughness to cognitive learning results was 83.3%. The effective contribution of metacognitive skills (78%) was greater than the effective contribution of discipline attitudes (18%), responsibility (-17.5%), and meticulous (4.8%) to cognitive learning outcomes.
