Abstrak

This research was conducted with the aim of discussing the development of fundamentalism in Islamic studies towards the politics of the Muslim Brotherhood. This research uses a qualitative approach by applying descriptive-analytical methods to obtain and obtain information from the research object. In collecting data, what is done is using library research by understanding and studying theories from several sources such as books, journals, research that has been carried out and a type of primary data related to the research object. The literature obtained from various references is analyzed critically so that it can support the ideas. This research concludes that the Muslim Brotherhood movement which was founded in Egypt in 1928 by Hassan Al-Banna is perceived by some western writers as a movement that carries the politics of Islamic fundamentalism, namely a movement that reaffirms the obligation to establish an Islamic State and rejects the influence of culture, politics and western economy. The Muslim Brotherhood is also considered to have politicized religion, is very aggressive towards non-Muslims as well as Muslims who adopt western lifestyles, carries out violent practices in carrying out its political goals, disbelieves the rulers, and carries out secret service practices to achieve its political goals.
