Characteristication of Tension Intensity Dialogues Reflecting Feminism and Islam in Muslim Households

Abstract

This research aims to describe how intense it is tensions that exist within the families of Muslim communities in Indonesia. This tension can be read with an analysis of feminism and Islam, which is also still controversial, especially in the view of some scholars with a classical mindset. The author takes samples from dialogues in YouTube spaces, which are influential and widely watched by viewers . The author wants to describe the intensity of tension in these dialogues. Then understand the reflection of feminism and Islam which is present concretely in the household spaces of Muslim families in Indonesia. What are the challenges and dilemmas of tensions from reflections on feminism and Islam? The data in this research are dialogues that appear on YouTube social media with the themes of family, the role of the husband, the role of the wife who works, studying outside the home, husband's support. The results obtained show that there is still tension in understanding between the role of the husband and the role of the wife, in Indonesian culture which is also predominantly Muslim. This tension is either in a simple form, or at a complex level. Complicated levels impact divorce. While the level is modest, it is still tolerable and understandable . The trigger for serious tension lies in the secondary understanding of observers of women's issues, who hold an interest.
