Abstract

This research aims to identify the relevant aspects of maqasid al-Shariah in managing economic and financial risks in the era of disruption, analyze the potential of maqasid al-Shariah as an alternative framework in managing economic and financial risks, and evaluate the advantages and challenges in applying maqasid al-Shariah as an alternative framework in managing economic and financial risks in the era of disruption. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach. The data sources are literature, scientific journals, articles, regulations, policies, and reports related to the concept of maqasid al-Shariah and risk management in economics and finance. The research results identify five aspects of maqasid al-Shariah that are relevant in economic and financial risk management, namely: protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and wealth. The implementation of maqasid al-Shariah in risk management can be carried out in the stages of identification, measurement, control, as well as monitoring and evaluation of risks. Maqasid al-Shariah has the potential to be an alternative framework that is superior, such as alignment with Islamic principles, a holistic perspective, emphasis on maslahah (public interest), as well as flexibility and adaptability. However, there are challenges in its implementation, such as limited understanding, limited methodology, cultural resistance, and lack of regulatory support. To effectively implement maqasid al-Shariah, strategies are needed to improve human resource understanding, develop methodologies and risk management systems that are in line with maqasid al-Shariah, strengthen regulatory support, and collaborate with the Sharia Supervisory Board. The implementation of maqasid al-Shariah in economic and financial risk management is expected to encourage the creation of a more stable, fair, and comprehensively beneficial financial system.
