The Relationship Between Religiosity and Cyberbullying Behaviour in Students Using Social Media

Social media provides many benefits to the user, but not all users can benefit fully. Some users use social media to bully others that lead to cyberbullying behavior. Religiosity is predicted to hinder students from engaging in cyberbullying behavior. This study aims to find out the relationship between religiosity and cyberbullying behavior in students using social media. The sample of this study included 344 students of UIN Suska Riau (men 112 and women 232) using sampling quota technique. The data of this study were got using The Centrality of Religiosity scale (CRS) of Huber & Huber and the scale of cyberbullying behavior based on forms of cyberbullying from Willard. Based on the result of correlation product moment analysis, there is a negative relationship between religiosity and cyberbullying in students using social media with correlation value -0,360 dan p = 0,000 (p<0,05). The effective contribution of the religiosity variable to cyberbullying behavior is 13%. It means, 13% religiosity can explain cyberbullying behavior, while 87% can be explained by other factors.
