Abstract

This article attempts to offer a different understanding of misogynistic hadith. Some of the hadiths that humans use as theological arguments to advance their interests are revisited, this time based on Fatima Mernissi’s reading. Fatima Mernissi is a feminist and sociologist. Background greatly influences interpretation. He reads it using a historical and methodological approach. Both of them also become Mernissi’s hermeneutics. In a methodological approach, Mernissi relies on 'Ulum al-Hadith which according to her is valid and is carried out when deciding to accept or reject a hadith. Mernissi uses a historical and sociological approach to understanding the Hadith. The purpose of this article is to know and also understand the hermeneutics of Mernissi’s hadith by re-reading some misogynist hadiths.
