Social media in the light of Quran and Hadith: An analytical Study

Social media is one of the most important ways to establish social communication by modern information technology between friends, family and people. Social Media is an online platform where users can easily participate, share and create audio-visual content for Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, blogs, wikis etc in virtual worlds. It has no boundaries in socializing people and it saves time and spaces constraints. It allows humans communicate with each other wherever and whenever they are without limitation of time and space. An internet user at first time "unknown" can instantly become famous with social media. Vice versa, great people in a relatively short time can be "worthless" by the power of Social Media.
By using Social Media we can preach the Quranic teaching and prophetic messages to others. We can do good thing and social redress by using social media in the positive way. On the other hand many people using social media in the negative way. They destroy social values by misusing modern information technology and build ethically worthless society. In the holy Quran itself, numerous verses teach us the importance of being respectful to each other, and the same applies while using social media platforms. One such verse goes like this: "O you who have believed, avoid many assumptions. Some assumptions are, indeed, sinful. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is accepting of repentance and Merciful." Quran (49:12).
These are just a few of the many things that we as Muslims should be taking care of while using the Internet as Muslims. Apart from social media, the Internet opens the door to many opportunities to consume our time and money. As Muslims, we must be aware of where to draw the line and how to deal with day-to-day challenges in modern society. The aims for this writing are to investigate the message of the Quran and Hadith in using Social Media and highlight the Islamic guidelines for using social media. Also how it is used based on Islam and social welfare. The research used qualitative methodology. There was used as instrument for data collection. Similarly, textbooks, Journals as well as internet sources were used for the research. The paper concludes that the exquisite use of social media of Muslim Society in the world.
